Day 1 - a few notes

Do you remember the Google Glass Project?

We talked about process journalism. The news blogs are process journalism. Some Examples:
Aljazeera Live Blogs, The New York Times Lede Blog, Guardian News Blog.

An important issue in digital journalism is copyright. Look for content with a Creative Commons License (here explained in arabic language)

To search content with Creative Commons use search.creativecommons.org

You can search pictures with a CC-License with the Flickr-advanced search

We talked also about Crisis Mapping and Ushahidi.
Ushahidi, Inc. is a non-profit software company that develops free and open source software (LGPL) for information collection, visualization and interactive mapping. Ushahidi (Swahili for "testimony" or "witness") created a website (http://legacy.ushahidi.com) in the aftermath of Kenya's disputed 2007 presidential election (see 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis) that collected eyewitness reports of violence sent in by email and text-message and placed them on a Google map. In Egypt there are several Ushahidi platforms like: harassmap.org or Egyelections.

It is very easy to create your own interactive map with crowdmap.com
